Ged Ryan's Staff Space

This module is delivered with scheduled face-to-face sessions over the course of the semester.  The sessions comprise of a lecture and a workshop activity or activities. If you are unable to attend a live session due to factors outside your control, you are expected to inform your tutor and engage in this, where possible, before the next scheduled session.  Tutorials are planned and will take place to provide you with the opportunity to discuss your progress on the module and receive one-to-one feedback.   To complete the module successfully you must allocate a substantial amount of independent study time, which will include undertaking set activities and carrying out assessment activities.

This module will have a practical focus and sessions will be divided between input, group/pair work and assignment workshops. Contact time will include three hours’ workshop/seminar per week, one and a half hour lecture with a further period of directed study.

A great deal of emphasis will be placed on peer learning and feedback with group and paired work being a key feature of all classes and an important part of formative feedback. Group discussion and the sharing of experiences and understanding in class will form a key part of learning activities both within and outside the classroom.

The teaching focus is strongly on facilitation, with the tutor guiding and supporting as you complete a variety of tasks. Tutorials will also be used to give individual feedback on progress. In addition, a Virtual Learning Environment website (Moodle) will contain additional learning materials, interactive content and additional support resources.
