We need to take Moodle down on Friday 8 September from 7am (BST) onwards to apply essential updates before Semester 1 starts. We anticipate that the work will take a full day to 5pm (BST) as it involves creating back-ups and Moodle is now a very big system.
Unfortunately, there is never a good time to take Moodle down. It’s a 24 hour system; teaching and self-study go on all the time. However, If we don’t perform critical maintenance, Moodle may fail mid-term with the consequence of longer and more disruptive unscheduled downtime.
